America. watching the late night TV
I saw that America is this country where everybody is a real estate millionaire, men have giant cocks, full heads of hair and ripped bodies. Their slim sexy women eat cheeseburgers, deep dish pizza and New England clam chowder five times a day and still look twenty years younger. Earlier TV programming suggests that American stock market goes higher the more of them lose their jobs and the economy gets stronger the more money they borrow. I guess all these unemployed people are actually the real estate millionaires just too busy with their giant cocks, slim women and the millions. in the middle of a shit sandwich
A dear friend was asking why I wasn't writing anymore - no reason - simply haven't had any new thoughts - it happens. No new thoughts until about two days ago and even then the new thought wasn't entirely mine nor perhaps new. So, I was reading this article about some plan to let "poor working people" restructure their mortgages one more time. Last time, really. This very last time just one more restructuring so that the real estate values don't plunge in their "communities". The cost is nothing to lose sleep over - 80 billion or so. Then it dawned on me. We have these people, who borrowed too much for shit they didn't need from banks. If we had capitalism the banks wouldn't lend in the first place and once they lent they would've collected even if it meant bankrupting the brainless profligate consumers. So it would be heartless and somewhat just. And that how it has been until I'd say the Bush senior times. If we had socialism, the government would've taken over the properties and the debt and it would have been unfair, economically inefficient and yet humane. In our new reality however we have a different setup. The government guarantees the debt by reckless spenders to predatory institutions so that both sides are happy. The government then prints money to fan the asset prices (houses and everything else) on the one hand and hoping to inflate its way out of debt on the other. This is done to satisfy two marginal groups of interests: financial institutions and community organizations. Look at the government now - it has two main factions - financial pigfuckers from Goldman Sachs and community advocacy groups representing welfare families. This three way scheme - Big Business, Individual, Government in the middle is the shit sandwich. It brings about two things - its main electoral constituency grows (the paupers) alongside the main financially contributing group of interests (the banks) financial might. The last three administrations cant seem to do anything about this. There's really no difference between Bill Clinton, George Bush and Obama. Think healthcare reform - the so called public option - the truly socialist element is fought against by the republicans (big business) and readily given up by the democrats (welfare groups). The result is strikingly similar: Private Insurance company transacts with individuals and medical professionals whose bills are paid or guaranteed by the government. Third example - defense (war) spending. The government pays Blackwater bills while Joe the Pauper enlists and then works for Blackwater, while the politicians vote for war. Fourth example - prisons. They're mostly privately operated in the US. Same logic as before ... Joe the Prisoner and Joe the Prison guard interact within the framework of a privately owned business, sponsored by the state. It will blow up sooner or later. No recovery happened. No recovery is going to happen until this is changed. The Hurt Locker
Very well put together. A woman's take on the biggest of all men's games - war. I think they could've edited it to make the action a little tighter but that's just me. It's an extremely powerful work feeling like a breath of fresh air next to the endlessly recycled bag of old Hollywood tricks, names and images. Such a striking contrast with glossy period porn piece I saw last night - "Public Enemies". Johnny Depp should repent and start building homeless shelters, Christian Bale .. fuck there's so much of Christian Bale everywhere. в прошлое воскресенье я видел гей парад в Нью-Йорке, что само по себе и не ново, но я застал голову колонны. Старые лесбиянки на мотоциклах, потом колонна Мазда "Миата" на второй или третьей - нарядный Дастин Лэнс Блэк с красивыми какими-то молодыми людьми, а вот следом - политическая братва. ХХХ фестиваля Кино в Москве более всего была похожа на купеческую пьянку в ресторане "Метрополь". Три лабуха играли Джанго Рейнхардта - точне адаптированные под Джанго песенки - "Тбилисо", "Мурка" (ты мой муреночек). The obvious question is why would the master of an art form as dynamic and as contemporary as fossilized dinosaur shit pretend to know how to motivate software developers, but the tempting simplicity of the setup must surely be deceiving. Can the speech be perhaps a metaphor of management? Performing in a symphony orchestra is when you wank the same piece of two hundred year old crap to perfection at rehearsals and then play it until retirement for about five bucks an hour trying to please a cranky old asshole who can't even play an instrument anymore and therefore must conduct (or manage). The idea is that there are whores and personal trainers in New York City, and less than glamorous people use their services in all sorts of awkward settings. I'm sure the director himself, just like the author of this blog, has dealt with both professions. He must have wanted to tell us something important about his personal trainers and something deep about his whores. Then he realized he could do both in one take by making them a couple, which would come with an added bonus of the third dimension - the drama of a personal trainer dealing with his hooker girlfriend. The result is amusing for about the first fifteen minutes after which it gets boring and disgusting although not revolting to the point of condemning prostitution and fitness just annoyingly uninteresting like someone else's bad breath on a train in the morning. How does this stupid shit make sense? How is painting all roofs white (i wonder with what and at what cost) a good thing? Maybe a white building is easier to AC but it's sure as hell harder to heat, also whatever light gets reflected - most of it will be absorbed by the atmosphere, it won't "go back into space". This fucking guy Steven Chu is a Nobel Prize winning physicist, which means he is not an idiot it would take to come up with such crap. So, he must be "in on it" - part of the hope and change wankfest. Now the scientists (Nobel prize winners) are losing their shit. Does anyone have the following numbers: 1) ratio of the area of all roof surfaces and road surfaces in the world to the area of the Earth landmass - the poles. 2) percentage of heat truly escaping into "space" from a white roof vs. a dark roof. That is what part does not get absorbed in the atmosphere 3) increase in energy spending on heating in winter/fall months because of the roof being white versus the savings on airconditioning 4) approximate cost of white paint to cover all surfaces in p.1 with some sort of a white reflective paint Bush and his clowns have fucked up the libertarian discourse, now these Obamaphile jerkoffs are fucking up the liberal one. мне кажется, что я знаю, почему крупных войн скорее всего в ближайшее время не будет. Как обычно, я уверен, что все эти ценные наблюдения уже кем-то многократно и на более высоком уровне сделаны, но читать книжки по философии и социологии скучно, кроме того было бы интересно угадать что-то со стороны. Итак, возьмем общество вплоть до появления высокотехнологичных рабочих мест (до электрификации и компьютеризации). Практически в любой области деятельности человеком тогда достигался уровень комфорта и профессиональной состоятельности только к зрелому возрасту. То есть любой ремесленник традиционно в среднем чем старше, тем лучше. То же и с чиновниками, священниками и наверное даже с крестьянами - опыт важнее физической силы и энергии. Практически в любой, кроме войны, уголовщины и освоения географически диких территорий. Война была главным способом реализовать социальную мобильность, почти таким же интересным как освоение территорий, но нам уже больше нечего осваивать. Теперь все иначе и возраст почти везде в лучшем случае нейтральный фактор, кроме элитистских профессий - врачи, адвокаты. Пик профессиональной карьеры во всем, что связано с технологиями достигается годам к двадцати пяти-тридцати, а дальше человек выходит на плато где и существует с той или иной степенью комфорта. То-есть у молодого человека сейчас есть много способов иметь все гораздо безопаснее и с моральной точки зрения более приемлемых, чем война. Дикторы и репортеры СиЭнЭн с озабоченными лицами передают эту ахинею кажый час. Четверо отморозков в спасательной шлюпке удерживают американского капитана. Рядом с ними американский эсминец с которого ФБР и хуй знает кто еще ведут переговоры трое суток. На помощь к пиратам плывут другие пираты, а к американскому эсминцу - другие эсминцы. Главный пират по спутниковому телефону откуда-то из "Сомали" чего-то требует. Жена капитана выступает с заявлениями. Больше всего происходящий бред напоминает эпизод South Park. На хуй нам нужен военный флот, который такую плевую проблему не может решить за пару часов? Понятно, человеческая жизнь бесценна, капитан, хуе мое, но это же военная ситуация, нужно разбираться тоже по-военному, имея в виду, что если сейчас создать прецедент с переговорами и CNN, то дальше будет еще хуже, кроме того все эти переговоры тоже ничего не гарантируют. Отморозки хотят денег и не хотят умирать, поэтому с ними должно быть легко разговаривать. Дать десять минут на размышления, потом подплыть и всех свинтить. Объяснить, что по истечении срока пленных брать не будут, мудаку по сотовому объяснить, что его лично убьют прямо в "Сомали" сегодня же вечером, если он своим мартышкам не скажет чтобы сдались. Французы кстати только что подобную ситуацию с яхтой решили силовым способом. Один заложник погиб, но теперь их (французов) трогать не будут. FASB - federal accounting standards bullshit

FASB is Federal Accounting Standards Board. In plain english it means the following. Case at hand: Citibank. It claims to have $1.94 Trillion in assets as of December 2008. Almost 1 trillion is listed as marketable securities, 710B in loans and 200B in "intangible assets, mortgage servicing rights" and other crap. So these so called "marketable securities" and loans are valued at 1.7 trillion dollars according to the Citibank's own valuations (pricing models). The old FASB rule required that all securities be marked to market - as in objectively priced according to current market rates for comparable paper. If a particular bond is being sold for 10 cents on a dollar today it means that a holder oh 1 million bucks in these bonds effectively only has 100K, not a million. The current number of 1.7 trillion is not fully compliant with the fair market value rule - a lot of securities haven't been marked down. We don't know what percentage. The today's vote lets the banks keep making up prices for their assets officially. So, as far as a layman is concerned, Citi states 1.9T in assets and who knows what share of it is in bullshit non-marketable junk debt and loans that will never get paid - let's say 30-50% - so Citi overstates it's assets by 550-850 billion dollars (prove me wrong - show me the books), the truth may be a lot worse. In the same time between 2009 and 2014 the "bank" has around 200B of outstanding debt principal maturing (this doesn't include coupon payments). In other words they need to pay $200B by 2014. So, right now on paper Citi says it has 1.9 trillion in assets, 300B in long term debt (200 due by 2015) , 540B in short term debt and 775B in deposits... Total liabilities according to it's statement are 1.79T versus the stated assets of 1.9T - healthy bank right? Now replace 1.9T with 1.3T - they're 500 billion dollars under water. Very similar calculations apply to *any* large banking institution. This is a gigantic sham, a big lie, which they (the executive branch, the legislature bought by the banking industry, the banking industry) choose to perpetuate. We the people are trying to spend and lie our way out of depression. Good luck to us. We deserve the consequences. |
